Campaign’s Media Faces to Watch 2020 – Vanessa Abi Faris, Performance executive, OMD UAE

Karan Kukreja, general manager, OMD UAE: Vanessa’s curiosity and eagerness to explore what’s beyond her job description makes her a constant rising talent. Vanessa has a big heart and a playful spirit that makes people around her enjoy working with her.

Career path

As an economics graduate venturing into media, I started my career with OMD at the core office in Beirut to later transition and join the Dubai team. Working on an array of clients across different verticals, mainly automotive giant Nissan and Azadea Group’s retail and F&B brands, I have focused on strategic and data-driven solutions to deliver successful results for my clients. I’ve had the opportunity to be part of great projects, from launching e-commerce for fashion brands such as Massimo Dutti to award-winning work on Nissan that has received recognition internally through OMD awards (Client Satisfaction & Advancing Client Creativity 2018) as well as the 2019 Global Twitter Innovators Award that took place in NYC.

Guiding principles

Working hard but working smart is one of the guiding principles that I have developed throughout my career through my own experience and OMD mentors.

Dream job

I’ve long been involved in tutoring children. My dream job would be to open a children’s learning centre of my own one day that focuses on children’s development both educationally and physically.

Side hustle

Skiing is a hobby I’m deeply passionate about, which led me to become a ski instructor, teaching individual and groups of kids. After moving to Dubai, though, skiing has become only a seasonal hobby. I’m hoping to pick up something new soon.
