Campaign’s Media Faces to Watch 2020 – Raya Tannous Manager, strategic marketing investments, OMD UAE

Saleh Agha, business unit director, and Jessica Machalani, director, OMD UAE: In today’s complex and data-flooded world, it is important to keep things simple and useful for brands while making sure that integration is seamless and flawless, which is where Raya has thrived. She joined OMD in Lebanon in 2013 and moved to Dubai in 2014, growing from an executive planner to a manager in strategic marketing investments on one of OMD’s top global accounts, Apple. Raya is committed to delivering high-quality work and has a deep understanding and passion for the brand. She adapts fast and acts as a brand guardian, working across disciplines, markets and time zones while successfully managing a long list of partners and stakeholders.

Career highlights

I found my love for advertising and media when I first joined Omnicom Media Group. I spent the first two years in the Lebanon office and then moved to Dubai to handle more regional and global accounts that I love, such as McDonald’s and Apple. I was part of the McDonald’s GCC team when we were elected the best performing market in 2014/2015 across the APMEA region. I am currently in my second year on Apple and have worked closely cross markets and teams to drive the giant in UAE and KSA the Apple way, doing the best work yet and having fun.

Guiding principle

My motto in life is: “Keep your mind open to change all the time. Welcome it and adapt to it” by Dale Carnegie.

Dream job

I love stories and I love creative arts and so my other dream job is to be a movie producer and editor.

Side hustle

I actively participate and volunteer in humanitarian projects with OMG, which is extremely active on that front. Fuelled by my passion for art and fashion, I have also created my own line of sustainable jewellery made of recycled cork and used the sales profits to raise funds for two charities. On the other side, I have a love for adventure and so I embarked on a tech-free six-day trip through the Mongolian desert in 2019, which changed my life and left me hungry for more.
