Campaign’s Media Faces to Watch 2020 – Nora Al Mashari, Social media executive, OMD Riyadh

Age: 25

Ibrahim Jabri, head of digital KSA, OMD: Nora is one of our most dedicated young and promising talents here in KSA. She truly is a unique calibre, whereby she brings deep local insights and culture to her team and clients, yet her work is up to global standards. She is an asset for any brand looking to uplift its social media presence. Nora is also passionate about social awareness and building sustainable communities via social media. It would be very interesting to see her grow in that capacity and shape our industry

Career highlights

I started my journey as a Social Media Executive at OMD KSA in early 2019. Some of my main responsibilities include managing social media accounts for key clients such as SABB Bank, creating content calendars, conducting weekly and monthly social media analysis reports and supporting the team with strategies for client pitches. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree of science in business, with a concentration in marketing, from King Saud University, I simultaneously interned for Brightening Tech and the Arab National Bank, in addition to working as a marketing executive for Eye of Riyadh.

Guiding principles

My number one guiding principle is to always put myself in the shoes of whoever I’m working with to gain a deeper level of understanding for their wants and needs whether it’s with clients, colleagues, or even friends and family in my personal life. I learned this on my first week at the job.

Dream job

Working in projects that combine my experience in the media industry as well as my passion for social awareness; managing a podcast that is focused on shedding light on certain topics everyday young adults in the MENA region face, in the hopes of raising social consciousness and finding solutions. That would be my dream job.

Side hustle

From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for volunteer and charity work and raising awareness on important social issues. I previously worked with Negdar, an initiative that spreads awareness on the abilities of young adults on the autism spectrum. I also worked with The Empowerment Hub, a group that aims to revolutionise what women feed their mind, body, and soul through annual events, the proceeds of which go to local charities.
