Campaign’s Media Faces to Watch 2020 – Firas Hariz, Media executive, Magna

Lara Arbid, deputy GM, Magna: Firas reminds us of how we all started our careers in media many, many years ago. He is the first one in the office, the last one out, making sure he’s on top of everything on his to-do list. He has the curiosity needed to keep challenging the status quo; he is creative by nature and always finds new ways to do the same old mundane things, elevating the spirit of the team and promoting an ongoing learning environment. He has taken on a lot of challenges in the past year and accepts anything we put him up to. We highly count on him and see a lot of potential that is just waiting to explode.

Career highlights

Realising my passion in marketing during my studies to get a BSc in finance, I completely shifted my education and eventually my career. I’ve been working as a hybrid media planner at Magna for the past 19 months. Within this relatively small period, I have had the privilege of working with a great team on well established brands in various industries, from education to FMCG and QSR. Working with a diversified portfolio pushed my limits to places I never thought possible

A highly respected colleague I once worked with said to me: “Don’t ever underestimate yourself” –  and their words shaped my way of thinking.

My dream Job would be developing a brand that contributes to making the world a better place.

Side hustle

With my little free time, I love to develop content for small businesses and frame their media strategies. I helped a family member start their business last year and it was doing great. I also enjoy stock and forex trading.
