Campaign’s Digital Faces to Watch 2021 —Meryem Berrada, Social Account Manager, Cheil MEA
Age: 29
Nominated by Brett Jones, Account Director, Cheil MEA
Meryem embodies the true sense of the term “go-getter” with passion, enthusiasm, creativity and dedication to her client. Whilst client relationship and management are her key focus I’m constantly impressed with Meryem’s ability and dedication outside of her main responsibilities in terms of proposing creative concepts, finding and suggesting relevant insights and analyzing data and how we can use this to optimize campaign performance. The future is very bright for Meryem and I’m glad her future is with Cheil.
Bio
I was fortunate enough to start my career at Socialize to which I owe a great deal of what I know about this industry. During my 5 years there, I worked across an extensive portfolio of tech, event, government, FMCG, tourism and retail brands, whether it was launching Sony’s latest cameras and TVs, organizing festivals across the UAE with African Eastern or giving the Expo 2020 Volunteers a voice on social.
Finally, moving to Cheil has given me the opportunity to put my multilingual skills to use. I currently manage 18 of Nespresso’s markets (MEA) across different verticals as well as launching new products and technologies offered by the brand.
Guiding principles
“The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. The only way that we are exposed is if we throw ourselves into the open”. Life is definitely more exciting when uncertain. Uncertainty teaches resilience, and resilience gives me that needed push to do better every day.
How has Covid changed your job?
It literally changed my job. I was one of the unfortunate people that got laid off due to Covid. Being taken out of that comfort zone helped me self-reflect on what would be the next best career move. And I feel very lucky that Cheil turned out to be just that.
Side hustle
Coming from Morocco, a country where several cultures collide, my love for languages had to blossom. I speak four languages fluently and am currently learning two others. Learning a new language is like absorbing a new way of thinking and seeing wildly fascinating and opposite worlds come together.
