Publicis team wins McDonald’s GCC

A Publicis Groupe partnership of media agency Starcom and creative shop Leo Burnett has won McDonald’s creative and media account in the GCC.

The media account had been held by OMD since it won it from Interpublic’s UM in 2012.

OMD had defended the account, along with its Omnicom stablemate TBWA/Raad, although Campaign understands that DDB, another Omnicom creative shop that has handled the fast food giant in recent years, was not involved with the pitch.

Both OMD and Publicis Media declined to comment on the shift of business. A spokesperson for McDonalds also said the firm could not comment at this time.

Leo Burnett and Publicis media shop Optimedia recently won the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.
